Gina Long
Gina is a career trial attorney who began that career at the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office in Waco, Texas. Over the course of six years, Gina honed her skills in presenting legal cases to juries. She has become highly skilled in cross examination of defendants and defense witnesses and in the delivery of strong and persuasive closing arguments. During her tenure at the District Attorney’s office, it was common for defendants to plead guilty on the eve of trial to avoid going up against Gina and her team.
While at the District Attorney’s Office, Gina tried nearly 50 jury trials, securing guilty verdicts in 85% of the felony trials she conducted. She gained a reputation for being tough on crime and routinely fought for stiff penalties for the felons she prosecuted. This reputation and experience allowed her to secure seven life sentences; five of which were obtained through plea agreement. During her practice in several District Courts her jury verdicts resulted in over 400 years of prison time in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Gina now brings those trial and negotiation skills to Harrison Davis Steakley Morrison Jones. She fights for her clients who have suffered injustice with the same tenacity she had fighting for the citizens and victims of McLennan County. In her first month with the firm, she has already secured a favorable settlement for her client in a premises liability lawsuit.
Gina graduated from Michigan State University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Pre-Law. She received her Juris Doctorate from University of Kentucky in 2012. She currently serves as the Board President for the Waco Chapter of Habitat for Humanity and has served on the organization’s Homeowner Services Subcommittee. She is dedicated to her city and passionate about serving the City of Waco and its residents. Gina has volunteered as the Attorney Coach for the Waco High School Mock Trial team leading them to the State Championship in 2017.
