Reckless driving at Texas concert blamed for 2 deaths, injuries

A night of music, socializing and fun turned gruesome for those gathered outside a group of busy Texas nightclubs. Reckless driving endangers lives as those present at the concert may attest. Two were killed and dozens more injured when a driver smashed through a barricade into a crowd of people.

Reports indicate that a man was fleeing police during a traffic stop when his vehicle barreled through the safety barricade and into a stream of concert-goers. Police stated that the driver, an aspiring music artist, had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. An arrest was made, and the man was jailed on capital murder charges.

Just before the crash, hundreds of people were bustling in the crowd, enjoying their night-life, unsuspecting of potential danger. More than 2,000 bands were slated to perform that night. What was once an obscure, small-town festival is now an international extravaganza, known to bring in top-name recording artists from around the world. Unfortunately, many present at the time of the accident claim that concert organizers have failed to keep up with the event's expansion and have not taken appropriate steps to ensure the safety of those in attendance.

With two lives lost and more than two dozen injured, it is not surprising that multiple lawsuits have been filed in both state and federal courts. The widow of one music executive killed in the tragedy claims that organizers cut corners where traffic safety was concerned, piling crowds of people into a space without implementing proper safeguards. A statement in her lawsuit alleges that any safety consultant with basic intelligence could have foreseen the danger at the event.

Reckless driving is one of several alleged causes of the devastation which unfolded at the scene. Those injured, as well as surviving family members of the deceased, are likely to face mounting medical bills and financial burdens due to personal loss. Many Texas attorneys are experienced in handling personal injury and wrongful death claims. A legal consultation is typically helpful in order to understand all options available when seeking compensation for personal injury and loss sustained in a car accident.
